Jamestown Park
Jamestown Park is located at 101 Murphy Street and serves as a neighborhood gathering place for play and recreation. The park features a playground with swings, slides, and multiple play structures, now upgraded in 2026 with a rubberized safety surface and shade covering, as well as several pavilions with picnic tables, open-area miniature grills, and a full basketball court.
Jamestown’s story is closely tied to its residents. As noted in “The Heritage Trail from Horse Creek to Davenport,” community leader Mrs. Rosa Mae Steward helped organize the Concerned Citizens of Davenport in 1979, later known as the Concerned Citizens of Jamestown, to help care for the Jamestown Cemetery and support the neighborhood. Jamestown is described as a close-knit community where neighbors look out for one another, reflecting the spirit behind the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child, and the village of Jamestown raised us.”
