Reserve Firefighters
The Davenport Fire Department Reserve Program is a non-paid volunteer program. The program is designed for individuals interested in providing community services that reduce property loss caused by fire, hazardous situations, injuries, deaths, and other emergencies. Reserve firefighters provide essential functions that assist the department and the residents of Davenport. Reserve personnel participate in training classes, community events, department drills, and emergency response.
Reserve Firefighters may ride on combat ready vehicles with the Davenport FD crew and are expected to meet all standards and perform the same duties and functions as full-time firefighters.
Personnel assigned to the Davenport Fire Department Reserve must document a minimum of fifteen (15) training hours per month and report for at least three (3), previously scheduled twenty-four (24) hours shifts per month, or seventy-two (72) hours per month total.
This program is only open to applicants residing in Orange, Seminole, Polk, Lake, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough and Osceola counties.

Reserve Firefighter
Reserve Firefighter personnel must possess the following certifications from the State of Florida and meet the qualifications listed below to be eligible to participate in the selection process:
- Firefighter I and II (Certificate of Compliance)
- EMT or Paramedic certificate
- Hazardous Materials Awareness Certification
- American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Possession of a valid High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Possession of a valid Florida Drivers License
- Must meet DFD Firefighter Eligibility Standards
- Successfully pass the department Background Check
- Successfully pass the Ridge Physical Ability Test (RPAT)
- Successfully pass the department Physical Examination
- Must pass and maintain the same standards as DFD full-time firefighters, such as an annual Fire Department physical, RPAT, FIT testing, and any other department required assessments

Candidates that meet the qualifications will be invited to an interview with the Fire Chief.
