Davenport Emerging Contaminant Pilot Test Project

The City of Davenport is pleased to announce it will be conducting a pilot test at its wastewater treatment facility to investigate potential options to help reduce levels of emerging contaminants that may be present in its treated effluent. Various treatment strategies will be investigated to help remove various “emerging contaminants” that may not be fully treated and removed in the City’s normal treatment processes, including “forever chemicals” such as, but not limited to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Water quality benefits will include helping reduce the potential for PFAS and other emerging contaminants from entering local surface waters, groundwaters, and the City’s drinking water supply sources. This Project will be administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), and funding assistance will be provided by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Questions on this project can be forwarded to the City of Davenport’s Utilities Department at 863-419-3302 EXT. 146.
