Canvassing Board Members Needed
The City of Davenport is seeking city residents to be on the Canvassing Board for the 2026 Municipal Election.
The role of the Canvassing Board is to canvass the mail-in ballots, formally known as absentee ballots, and the returns of the Election.
The Board is made up of three (3) members and two (2) alternate members who are present at the meetings and who are able to serve in the absence of a respective member. Each member and alternate member appointed shall not be a candidate with opposition in the election, or an active participant in the campaign of any candidate in the election being canvassed. Actively participating means undertaking an intentional effort to demonstrate or generate public support for a candidate beyond merely making a campaign contribution. This also includes signing a candidate’s petition form.
The Canvassing Board will be required to meet the day of the Election prior to the polls closing and canvass the Mail-In Ballots. In addition, the Canvassing Board will meet on two separate days to certify the Election and perform a Post-Election Audit. Meetings will be held at different times of the day, including morning and evening. Interested individuals SHALL be available during these times and MUST attend all the meetings. It is of the upmost importance that interested individuals will be available during these times and days.
Interested individuals must reside within the city limits and will also be required to undergo training, including signature verification training.
