Marguerite Williams

In honor of longtime City Clerk Marguerite Williams, the following items were adopted:

 

Ordinance No. 329 was passed on October 1, 1990, and reads in part:

WHEREAS, Marguerite Williams has faithfully served the City of Davenport as City Clerk for many years; and

WHEREAS, a portion of Lemon Street runs adjacent to City Hall.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Davenport, Florida:

That portion of Lemon Street between Highway 17-92 and Escambia Avenue...is hereby designated and shall hereafter be known as Williams Street.

 

Resolution No. 182-97 was passed on July 14, 1997, and reads in part:

WHEREAS, MARGUERITE WILLIAMS served the City of Davenport as City Clerk from April 15, 1934, through April 15, 1997; and

WHEREAS, MARGUERITE WILLIAMS has for more than 63 years gone beyond the call of duty and unselfishly given of her time and talent to better the Davenport community; and

WHEREAS, MARGUERITE WILLIAMS has for more than 63 years been a friend and served the people of the City of Davenport in a pleasant and professional manner; and

WHEREAS, the career of MARGUERITE WILLIAMS as City Clerk forms a significant part of the history of the City of Davenport;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Davenport, Florida:T

That April 15 of each year is hereby designated MARGUERITE WILLIAMS DAY in the City of Davenport.

On behalf of all the citizens of Davenport, the City Council of the City of Davenport sincerely thanks MARGUERITE WILLIAMS for her years of unselfish and dedicated service to the people of the City of Davenport and further wish her many years of happy retirement.
