Davenport Fire Department
The Davenport Fire Department was formed in 1926 and operated as an all-volunteer department until 2004, where it was transformed into a combination department, and again In 2009, the department was restructured into a full-time career department, in order to provide the best possible service to its citizens. In 2012, Fire Station #1 was expanded by 1400 sq ft. to provide for additional staff.
In early 2020 our city officially open Fire Station #2, located at 1461 North Blvd. West. Currently the station houses (2) fire apparatus and is staffed with 24 hour Firefighter/EMT's and can accommodate up to six (6) firefighter/EMT's.
Our professionally trained personnel provide fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response and mitigation, fire prevention and inspection, community education, and disaster planning services.
Polk County is the eighth most populated county in the state with 686,483 (2017) residents and the City of Davenport is number one in growth within Polk County. Davenport Fire Department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services (EMS) to the residents of Davenport and the surrounding area. In 2018, Davenport Fire Department was re-evaluated by the Insurance Service Office (ISO) and received an improved Public Protection rating of #2. This rating moves our Fire Department into the top 3% in the nation.
