Code Enforcement

Davenport's Code of Ordinances provides standards of housing, safety, sanitation, and other important elements for our community. Keeping our city safe and clean, with well-maintained and desirable properties, helps to increase the desirability of the community, as well as property values. This is very important in protecting most families' single largest investment – their homes.

Code Enforcement is responsible for ensuring that the residences, properties and businesses in the City of Davenport comply with the code. In addition, Chapter 162, Florida Statutes, authorizes municipalities to impose fines and non-criminal penalties for violations of the City's code.

A Code Enforcement Officer can either initiate a code violation action based upon their own observation or in response to a citizen complaint.

LAWN WATERING: Effective 6/6/2022

The City of Davenport, Ordinance No. 1080 that discusses water conservation, and watering of yards, was passed on 6/6/2022.

That is as follows:

Monday – addresses ending 0 -1
Tuesdays – addresses ending 2 – 3
Wednesday – addresses ending 4 -5
Thursday – addresses ending 6 – 7
Friday – addresses ending 8 -9

Times are as follows: properties under 2 acres from 12:01am to 6:am, or after 6:00pm to 11:59pm, on the allowable watering day.

Properties with more than 2 acres are as follows: 12:01m to 8:00am, or after 6:00pm to 11:50pm on the allowable watering day.

How Do I File A Complaint?

Complaints can be reported to the Code Enforcement office at (863) 419-3300 Extension 130 or by email at codeenforcement@mydavenport.org. Please make sure you provide the correct address of the possible violation and a clear description of the problem.

***NOTICE***

In response to the amended Florida Statue, the City of Davenport can no longer accept anonymous code compliance complaints unless the alleged violation meets the noted exception below. Individuals wishing to submit a complaint are required to provide their name and address. Thank you for your cooperation.

The 2021 Florida legislative session passed Senate Bill (SB) 60 entitled County and Municipal Code Enforcement. SB 60 amends Florida Statue Chapter 162 prohibiting code compliance officers from initiating a code compliance action based on an anonymous complaint. Individuals wishing to submit a complaint are required to provide their name and address. An exception was provided permitting anonymous complaints only if a code officer has reason to believe the violation presents an imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or there is a threat of imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources. SB 60 went into effect on July 1, 2021.
