WHAT IS AC4P POLICING?
AC4P stands for “Actively Caring for People”. AC4P has been researched, implemented, and proven successful in various settings across our country and the world, from educational to industrial and community settings. AC4P policing brings this process to police officers around the country.
AC4P Policing hopes to bridge the divide between community and law enforcement. In today’s society, more attention is given to the negative reactive side of policing rather than the positive proactive approach to crime preventing which AC4P and the Davenport Police Department believe can be accomplished by cultivating relationships with our residence and encouraging them to be on the lookout for the safety, health, and well-being of each other. We have confidence in our officers’ ability to play a critical and integral role in achieving such a community of compassion -- an actively-caring for people (AC4P) culture.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When the Davenport Police Department observes a citizen actively caring for a fellow citizen, the officer will provide the citizen with a unique serialized blue AC4P wristband to immediately recognize the citizen for their act of caring. The officer will also document the reason the citizen was recognized and this act will be shared through the Department’s social media programs.
The Davenport Police Department then encourages each AC4P wristband recipient to “Pay It Forward” and transfer the wristband to another citizen who they observe caring for someone in the community.
To ensure that each original recipient of an AC4P wristband from the Davenport Police Department does not go without a wristband for their initial act of caring, the Department will provide a free replacement wristband to any recipient who “Pays It Forward.” To request a replacement wristband, we ask that you provide us with the details surrounding the act of caring for which you recognized another citizen. This can be done in person at the Davenport Police Department or by clicking the below link.
